Mission
BodyMetrix exists to make clinical-grade body composition the standard of care across every professional setting that assesses human performance, health, and recovery.
Who We Are
BodyMetrix is the clinical-grade body composition platform built for the professionals who cannot afford to be wrong. Combining an ultrasound device with a required subscription platform, BodyMetrix delivers accurate, defensible, and accessible body composition assessment across every professional setting that measures human performance, health, and recovery — without a fixed clinical setting, a specialist operator, or a referral.
This is not a consumer wellness product. It is not a BIA scale with better marketing. It is a measurement standard — validated in 50+ peer-reviewed clinical studies, FDA Class I cleared, and trusted by 14,000+ providers across professional sports, youth athletics, sports medicine, elite fitness, and wellness settings worldwide.
BodyMetrix exists to make clinical-grade body composition the standard of care across every professional setting that assesses human performance, health, and recovery. That mission was established over 20 years ago. The platform to deliver it at scale is being built now.
The Team
Drew Stark
Founder, CEO + President
Drew Stark is one of the original inventors of the BodyMetrix BX2K ultrasound platform. He co-developed the technology in the early 2000s, served as Director of Operations through the company's founding launch phase, and led BodyMetrix's initial entry into professional sports before leaving to complete his education and build an independent career in enterprise technology.
For the past 15+ years Drew has worked for a Fortune 500 leader in technology and advisory solutions. Drew built a track record retiring hundreds of millions in revenue across complex, high-stakes platform sales. He led SaaS transition engagements for Cisco, HPE Aruba, Verkada, and other major technology companies, and drove enterprise wins with the State of California, the County of Los Angeles, CENIC, and hundreds of private sector and enterprise accounts. He understands what it takes to move a legacy technology business to a subscription model at scale — because he has done it, repeatedly, for organizations far less positioned to win than BodyMetrix.
He returned to BodyMetrix in July 2025 to finish what he started with his family — and to build what comes next.
Drew holds degrees in Political Science and Economics from the University of the Pacific. He lives with his wife Britt and their pets in Sacramento, CA. Drew is an avid urban farmer, mountain biker, enthusiastic home cook, enjoys traveling, and spending time with his extended family and friends. He is a lifelong supporter of Manchester United, the San Jose Sharks, the San Francisco Giants, and the Golden State Warriors — which, taken together, suggest a high tolerance for long-term thinking and patience under pressure.

Dario Rivera
Senior Solutions Architect + DevOps Engineer
Dario Rivera brings 15+ years of experience delivering enterprise solutions across global teams — spanning architecture, implementation, cloud infrastructure, API design, and data operations. He has built and scaled complex integrations for some of the most demanding technology environments in the world, including work at several Fortune 500 Technology Companies, where he led solution design across Azure, Salesforce, and reverse logistics platforms serving enterprise clients across the US and Latin America.
At BodyMetrix, Dario owns the technical architecture connecting the platform's device ecosystem to its subscription infrastructure, data pipelines, and cloud platform roadmap. Dario holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica and carries certifications including CISSP, CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure, and Cisco CCNA. He is based in San José, Costa Rica.
Heidi Stark
Legacy Co-Founder and former CFO + COO, Current Board Member
With decades of management experience across start-up companies in the medical device and consumer product industries — including ImagiNail, DermaHealth Systems, and Therative, Inc., she served as CFO and COO, managing day-to-day operations, finances, inventory control, sales, and marketing through the company's founding years and growth phases. Her operational discipline and institutional knowledge are woven into the infrastructure BodyMetrix runs on today.
Heidi serves as an advisor to the current core team, ensuring the operational foundation she built from the company's inception is carried forward with the same integrity that defined it.
Heidi lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and is a passionate gardener, diligent reader, and enthusiastic traveler. She finds her greatest joy spending time with her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Heidi is a ardent advocate for cancer research and Alzheimer's and dementia care — causes she champions with the same conviction she brought to everything she built at BodyMetrix. She is a proud Manchester United supporter and an even prouder supporter of her grandchildren's sports and activities — which, by all accounts, keeps her schedule full.
Where We Have Been
BodyMetrix was founded in September 2004 by Dr. Luiz Da Silva — one of the world's leading scientists in the application of ultrasound and optics in medical devices. Holding a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of British Columbia, Dr. Da Silva brought more than 40 years of research experience across industry, university, and national laboratory settings to the problem of body composition measurement. A Fellow of the American Physical Society and the Optical Society of America, with over 50 patents, 200+ publications, and awards from the American Physical Society, the IEEE, R&D 100, and the Department of Energy —
Dr. Da Silva did not build a fitness tool. He built a clinical instrument, grounded in the same ultrasound science the USDA had used for decades to measure tissue composition in livestock, and applied it to human body composition for the first time at professional scale.
The result was the BodyMetrix BX2K — the first clinical-grade ultrasound body composition platform designed for professional use outside the clinical setting. In the late 2000s, BodyMetrix entered professional sports and established its first compliance standards in youth athletics. Over the following decade, the platform accumulated 50+ peer-reviewed clinical studies, earned FDA Class I clearance, and built a global install base of 14,000+ providers across professional sports, elite fitness, sports medicine, wellness, and youth athletics settings worldwide.
That install base is not just proof of adoption. It is the foundation of something larger — a longitudinal body composition dataset spanning 20+ years of real-world clinical application across every segment BodyMetrix serves. No competitor has it. No new entrant can replicate it. It is the scientific and commercial foundation that makes BodyMetrix's next chapter possible.
Where We Are Going
BodyMetrix is in transition — and that transition is deliberate, fully resourced, and already underway.
The legacy hardware model — device sold once, no ongoing relationship — is being replaced by an integrated device-plus-SaaS platform that connects every provider to BodyMetrix on a continuous subscription. The North America market relaunch in 2026 marks the beginning of that transition. The 14,000+ device global install base is the conversion engine. Every existing provider who activates a subscription adds to the longitudinal dataset, strengthens the clinical standard, and deepens the data asset that defines BodyMetrix's long-term value.
The destination is the BodyMetrix cloud platform — targeting launch in the next 12 months, it is built to centralize body composition data across every provider, every segment, and every assessment, at a scale no other platform in this category has achieved. Active subscribers receive priority access at no additional cost. The platform they are using today is the foundation. What is being built on top of it is the standard for the next two decades.
The data asset being built from tens of thousands of deployed devices and 20+ years of real-world clinical application is not incidental to this vision — it is the vision. Body composition intelligence, built from the most validated dataset in the category, delivered through a platform purpose-built for the professionals who depend on it. That is what BodyMetrix is building.
The standard has been set for over two decades. The platform to deliver it at scale is being built now.
